Experience a unique homestay on Phratong Island in the Moklan village of Tung Dap, an ideal place for an eco tour based on local livelihood activities. Learn the traditional culture and stories of the Moklan, who used to be a nomadic sea-faring people. Try your hand at fishing on the beach or collecting clams and learn the art and technique behind repairing squid traps with local fisherman. Explore the savannah by tractor on the interior of the island with your local guide, and relax on the long stretch of undeveloped beach. Enjoy the delicious Southern Thai food in your homestay, even a homemade Thai snack!

Day One
Start the tour in Kuraburi for a pre-trip briefing and cultural orientation.
Transfer to Tung La Ong Pier to meet your local hosts and then take a boat to the remote island of Koh Phra Thong. Along the way explore the mangrove forest in a long-tail boat, where you have the chance to spot playful otters and shy monkeys.
Take a fascinating journey through the tidal canals and learn about this amazing eco-system which also acts as a nursery for crabs, fish and shrimp.
Lunch at the homestay house.
Learn how to make squid traps with local fisherman.
Join the local woman to make a traditional Moklan dessert from local “kanom jak” flour and coconut.
Enjoy a tractor ride to a long stretch of deserted beach to learn about the local occupations of fishing, collecting edible oyster and tin mining.
Relax on the beach and enjoy a beautiful sunset or help prepare the evening meal of the freshest sea food with your hosts.
Dinner with host family and share stories with your homestay family.
Weave palm forms into animal shapes. Keep your creation as a souvenir.
Overnight: Simple and comfortable homestay. Bedding and mosquito net is provided.
Day Two
Breakfast at the homestay.
Take a tour through the savannah from the back of a homemade tractor. Try to catch a glimpse of wildlife, such as deer and birds, or find a honeycomb up in the trees.
Lunch at the homestay.
Pack and say goodbye to your friendly hosts.
Transfer back to Kuraburi for debriefing, and then on to your next destination.
